INTERVIEW with Armando Hernandez
Can you explain to the audience your career?
My name is Armando Hernandez and I'm a local filmmaker based in Santa Fe, NM. My career as a filmmaker has been a fulfilling and rewarding journey, and I look forward to continuing to create meaningful films for years to come.
How many years have you been making movies?
I have been making movies for 5 years now, starting in 2019.
Why did you start making movies?
I started making movies because I have always enjoyed watching films since I was a kid. Some of my favorite movies growing up were "Star Wars," "E.T.," and many more that inspired me to want to create my own films.
Tell us a little about your project. What will the audience be able to see in your film?
As the story unfolds, we get to enjoy the company of two compelling characters with intriguing stories under their belts. Both performers were able to gradually reveal their secrets and insecurities in a convincing, playful way.
Why did you do this project?
I did this project because I saw it as a great opportunity to work and collaborate with other people that have the same passions and I was also interested in the script.
If you could go back, what would you change about this project? (1 thing only)
I don’t think I would necessarily change anything but if i had to i would just say it would have liked to have spent more time on set making this film.
What are you happiest about this project?
I am the most happiest to have meet other like minded people that share to same enjoyment that cinema brings to our lives.
Make a wish to the movie gods. What do you ask?
My wish would be that I hope cinema never dies or fades away.
What movie would you have liked to direct?
I would have loved to direct "Sicario" directed by Denis Villeneuve. It is one of my all-time favorite movies.
What kind of cinema do you like? Genre, directors, actors?
My favorite type of film genre is drama and suspense. Some of the directors that I greatly admire and look up to are Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, and Denis Villeneuve. Additionally, some of my favorite actors include Benicio Del Toro, Al Pacino, and many more.
Imagine that all the movies are going to be lost. If you could save 3 movies, what would they be?
The 3 movies i would save are Sicario, Star Wars and The Passion of the Christ.
If you have more projects underway, can you give us a bit of information?
I am currently working on a project called NAVA 13, which is a collection of 13 short films. These films span across different genres including drama, horror, suspense, and comedy. Additionally, there is an original song called "Shattered Wings" that is part of this project. The entire collection of short films will be coming to local cinemas in Santa Fe, NM later this year in 2024.
